Call for artists to help launch Young Inventors Centre

The team of volunteers behind the Brighton Mini Maker Faire has been busy with preparations for the big day on 6th September 2014. This year, we will be launching the Young Inventors Centre at the faire with a workshop themed  ‘a Noisy, Wearable, Playful combination’ and we are looking for 12 artists from the South of England and North of France to take part and run the workshop organised by Exploring Senses and supported by ReCreate.

The deadline for applications is Friday 1st August.

There will be 12 workstations and lots of recycled materials, courtesy of Feegle. Participants aged 8 and adults will be invited to play and create things with materials of low tech and high tech, analogue or digital, and include arts, crafts, textiles, electronics, science, sound, social media. So, bring your enthusiasm, skills, tools and run the workshop with other artists.

The four categories of objects to make are:

1. Noisy Things;
2. Wearable Things;
3. Playful Things; and
4. Hybrid Things.

Artists will be mobile casino paid a £150 fee and materials will be provided. There is also an opportunity to display your work and network with others. We’ll have a green screen area, social media, digital editing suites, a crew, interviewers and bloggers documenting the day.
